WioWise Web Design Competition
LearnServe is excited to collaborate with WioWise – a dynamic online start-up and LearnServe partner – in inviting high school and middle school students in the DC Metro area to submit entries to the 2016 WioWise Web Design Competition: Spring Thunder Award.
Started by serial entrepreneur Hubin Jiang, himself a LearnServe champion and the parent of a young social innovator, WioWise is designed to equip users to build websites without prior knowledge of coding or web development. The tool integrates web design, online shopping, and social networking features.
The 2016 competition offers entrants a window into the entrepreneurial process we teach our LearnServe students. Entrants will be among the first to test the WioWise digital platform before its official launch. (A group of six LearnServe students and alumni helped WioWise beta test the site last November.) In addition to submitting sites designed on the WioWise platform, entrants must share customer feedback for the company’s design team.
The competition encourages submitters to include:
- Logo or company name
- Motto or tagline
- Mission and vision statement
- Pictures and information on the team involved
- Personal connection to topic or organization
… which are all parts of the final venture proposal that our Fellows have been developing since September.
Submission Deadline: April 10, 2016
Prizes: $500 (1st place); $300 (2nd place); $200 (3rd place)
Eligibility: Entrants must be a high school or middle school student in the Washington, DC area with a social venture, cause, or campaign. Not limited to LearnServe students or alumni, though they are encouraged to apply!
